Moorefield continued their unbeaten run in the league with a good victory over Confey in Round 10 of the
league. Padraig O’Flynn opened the scoring within the first minute when he made
a run from the half back line to knock over the point. Graham Caffery had a
great goal chance expertly saved by Moorefield goal keeper Pairic Canavan in
the 4th minute before corner forward Ronan Barry kicked their first
point in the 6th minute. Eoin Fitzpatrick put Confey in the lead for
the first time in the 8th minute with a good point from play after a
good ball from Alan O’Sullivan. Gareth Duffy levelled the game two minutes
later with an excellent point after Ciaran Kelly won possession in midfield and
sent in a great ball to Aaron Mullins who set up Duffy for the point. Frank
Hanniffy pointed from a free in the 18th minute to put the Moore’s
in the lead but Confey replied instantly with another good point from Graham
Caffery to level the game once again and he put them in the lead two minutes
later when he pointed from a fee. Ciaran Kelly hit an excellent point from play
in the 24th minute and full forward Jason Philips put the Moore’s
back in the lead with a superb point after good work from Philie Wolfe and
Aaron Mullins. Aaron Mullins put the Moore’s two points clear in the 28th
minute with a good point after excellent defensive work from Liam Callaghan
before Confey’s Eoin Fitzpatrick kicked their fifth point to leave a half time
score of 0-06 to 0-05 in favour of Moorefield.

Centre half forward Philie Wolfe got the Moore’s off to a flying start in the second half when he scored a
brilliant goal in the 5th minute. This gave Wolfe a great boost and
he put them 1-02 in front when he kicked a good point from play two minutes
later with a good point from play after James Lonergan made an excellent block
and sent the ball into Niall Hurley Lynch in the half forward line who laid the
ball off to Wolfe. Confey reduced the deficit to two points in the 14th
minute when midfielder Frank Barry beat Moorefield keeper Pairic Canavan for a
goal after a slip up in the Moore’s defence. The Moore’s replied with three
superb points from play coming from Ciaran Kelly (2) and Gareth Duffy to put
them five points clear. Moorefield were playing some excellent football in the
second half and Gareth Duffy put the Moore’s in a comfortable 1-05 lead in the
19th minute when he scored a great goal a move that started with
Kevin Murnaghan and involved Philie Wolfe and Aaron Mullins. Graham Caffery
replied with a point for Confey but the Moore’s were now dominating the game
and Aaron Mullins hit a fine individual point after excellent work from Ciaran
Kelly and Niall Hurley Lynch. Half backs Padraig O’Flynn and James Lonergan added
points for the Moore’s to put them 1-07 ahead. Graham Caffery added two points
for Confey in the final minutes of the game to leave a final score of 1-13 to
